CrewConnect.com is a marketplace that connects live event companies with professional freelancers in sound, lighting, rigging, and AV. Companies post shows and hire vetted crew; freelancers build profiles, manage availability, sync bookings to Google Calendar, and get paid.
Features include vetted freelancer profiles, show posting with per-discipline rates, availability and personal time-off management, Google Calendar synchronisation, cancellation policies, billing and invoicing, and star ratings and reviews.
How we use your information
We collect the information you provide when you create a profile, post shows, and make or receive booking requests, plus limited technical data about how you use the service. If you connect Google Calendar, we access your calendar to sync your bookings and time-off. Subscription payments are processed by Yoco. We use your information to operate the marketplace, facilitate bookings and billing, send notifications, and keep the platform safe. We never sell your personal data. You can access, correct, or delete your information and disconnect integrations at any time.
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 September 2026. CrewConnect (“we”, “us”) operates a marketplace that connects live event companies with professional freelancers in sound, lighting, rigging, and AV. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. The Service is hosted on the Base44 platform. We comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) of South Africa and other applicable data protection laws.
Information we collect
- Information you provide: your name, email address and password when you register (or your Google account name and email if you sign in with Google); profile information including account type, display or company name, biography, city and location, phone number, website, social links, expertise disciplines, day rate, years of experience, driver’s licence and PDP details, availability, and any avatar photo; show and booking information including show titles, descriptions, dates, venues, disciplines and rates, booking requests and messages, and cancellation policy terms; and ratings and comments you submit.
- Information collected automatically: device type, browser, approximate location, pages viewed, and activity within the Service, to operate and secure the platform. We use browser local storage and cookies to keep you signed in and remember preferences.
- Information from connected services: when you sign in with Google we receive your basic profile (name and email); when you connect Google Calendar we read and create events on your primary calendar to sync your shows, bookings and time-off, and store only the Google Calendar event IDs we create; subscription payments are processed by Yoco, which handles card details and never sends them to our servers.
How we handle Google user data
We use Google APIs for sign-in and optional Google Calendar synchronisation and request only the permissions needed, which you grant through Google’s own consent screen.
- Access: we access your basic profile (name and email) for sign-in, and read, create, update, or delete events on your primary calendar when you connect it. We do not access any other Google products or data.
- Use: Google data is used only to identify your account and keep your bookings and time-off in sync. We do not use Google data for advertising, profiling, or model training.
- Storage: we store only the identifiers of calendar events we create (Google Calendar event IDs). We do not store your Google password, access tokens beyond the active session, or the contents of your calendar.
- Sharing: we do not sell, rent, or transfer Google user data to third parties. Calendar event details we create are visible only to you in your own calendar. We share data with Google only as needed to operate the sign-in and Calendar features you enable, and will disclose it only where required by law.
- Retention and deletion: calendar event IDs are deleted when the related booking or time-off is removed. You can disconnect Google Calendar at any time, after which we stop accessing your calendar and remove our sync records.
If we change how we use Google user data, we will update this Privacy Policy, notify you in the platform before the change takes effect, and obtain your consent before any new use.
How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and profile.
- To match freelancers with companies and to create, deliver, and track booking requests.
- To send you notifications and emails about bookings, reminders, and account activity.
- To synchronise your bookings and time-off with the Google Calendar you connect.
- To process subscription payments and maintain billing records.
- To display ratings and reviews to support trust between users.
- To moderate content, enforce our Terms, and keep the platform safe.
- To improve and maintain the Service and comply with legal obligations.
Sharing of information
We share profile, show, and booking information between the specific freelancer and company involved in a request so they can coordinate work. We do not sell your personal data. We share information with service providers who process it on our behalf only as needed to run the Service: Base44 (hosting, authentication, and database), Google (sign-in and Calendar integration, where you enable it), Yoco (payment processing), and email delivery providers for notifications. We may disclose information where required by law or to protect our rights.
Data retention
We keep your information while your account is active. Booking history, reviews, and billing records are retained after bookings conclude for your records and to meet legal and accounting requirements. If you close your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law. Google Calendar event IDs are deleted when the related booking is removed.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted transmission and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials safe.
Your rights
- Access, correct, or delete the personal information in your profile at any time.
- Disconnect Google Calendar at any time, after which we stop accessing your calendar and remove our sync records.
- Request a copy of your data, restrict processing, or close your account by contacting us.
- Withdraw consent for optional features, though this may limit related functionality.
Children
The Service is intended for professionals and is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time and will revise the “Last updated” date. For material changes we will provide notice in the platform. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
